Patagonia's vast horizons guide, based in Santiago

Patagonia gives a rare sense of freedom. We travel there as much for the landscapes as for what they awaken within us.

Sarah

Passionate about vast landscapes and remote lands, Sarah guides travelers in discovering Patagonia with an approach centered on immersion, travel rhythm, and connection to nature. Between glaciers, endless steppes, jagged mountains, and roads at the end of the world, she loves building itineraries that allow visitors to feel the full power of this unique region. Sarah favors balanced trips that blend exploration, contemplation, and local experiences. She loves both long silent drives and small estancias, hikes facing the Andean peaks, or simpler moments spent in the heart of Patagonian landscapes. Her approach is based on listening and personalization, in order to create trips tailored to each way of discovering this vast and wild land.

Everything you need to know about Patagonie

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to visit Patagonia?

The ideal window for a trip to Patagonia stretches from November to March, when the austral summer warms the steppes and clears the trails of Torres del Paine National Park or the El Chaltén region. December and January offer endless daylight, perfect for hiking to Fitz Roy, but the wind blows strong. March remains our preferred season: the lenga forests turn red, the refuges empty out, and the light becomes extraordinary. Winter (June to August) closes some access on the Chilean side, but opens other possibilities, such as observing wildlife in Tierra del Fuego or skiing near Bariloche. It all depends on the pace you're seeking.

What budget should you plan for a trip to Patagonie?

Patagonia remains one of the most expensive regions in South America, primarily due to distances and the remoteness of certain areas. For a two-week circuit combining the Argentine side (El Calafate, El Chaltén, Ushuaia) and the Chilean side (Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine), expect an average budget of between €3,500 and €5,500 per person, including domestic flights and accommodation. Nights in an estancia or lodge within the park will increase costs, as will a cruise to the Beagle Channel or the fjords. Conversely, traveling off-season, staying in family-run hosterías, and opting for long-distance buses can significantly reduce expenses without compromising the experience.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Patagonia?

Patagonia cannot be planned like any other destination. Distances are deceiving, weather changes by the hour, domestic flights fill up six months in advance, and the best trekking guides are booked well before the austral summer. That's the heart of our work: as a local English-speaking agency based on the ground, we know the estancias where you truly stay with locals, the lodges worth the detour, the drivers you can rely on when Route 40 gets complicated. Building an itinerary in Patagonia with us means saving time, avoiding logistical pitfalls, and accessing moments that few travelers truly experience.

What to see on a trip to Patagonia?

It's hard to take it all in: Patagonia spans nearly a million square kilometers. On the Argentine side, Perito Moreno glacier delivers a stunning visual impact, El Chaltén concentrates the finest hikes toward Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, while the Valdés Peninsula, further north, draws visitors for its southern right whales between June and December. On the Chilean side, Torres del Paine rewards those who tackle the W or O circuit, and the Carretera Austral opens onto fjords, temperate rainforests, and the blue marble of General Carrera Lake. Even further south, Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego offer a taste of Antarctica. Three weeks barely suffice to grasp this diversity.
