How to choose your Patagonia trip?

The first variable is duration. In 10 days, we concentrate the itinerary on a homogeneous zone, for example El Calafate, El Chaltén and Torres del Paine, accessible by road from Punta Arenas. For a 1 to 7 days format, you add Ushuaia or the lake region around Bariloche. Beyond that, a 8 to 12 days trip allows you to combine Argentine and Chilean Patagonia with genuine breathing room, incorporating the Carretera Austral or the Valdés Peninsula for whales. Since internal distances are considerable (1500 km between El Calafate and Ushuaia), we always schedule 1 to 2 domestic flights to preserve time on the ground.

Different types of trips

Depending on your preferences, we guide you toward three main families. Cultural trips emphasize the historic estancias of Santa Cruz, the heritage of the Tehuelches and Mapuches peoples and Patagonian gastronomy, cordero lamb and Río Negro wines. Adventure trips focus on the W or O trek at Torres del Paine, climbing the Torres viewpoint at sunrise, crossing the South Ice Field. For family trips, we adapt distances and choose short activities: navigation in front of Perito Moreno, an outing to Magellanic penguins, horseback riding in an estancia.

What is the best season?

The practical window opens from November to March, with peak visitor numbers between mid-December and late February. December and January offer the mildest temperatures (18-22°C daytime at El Calafate) and 17 hours of daylight in the south. November and March suit those seeking fewer crowds on the trails, with often calmer winds in March. For whales at the Valdés Peninsula, the peak period extends from September to mid-December. We advise against June to August south of the 45th parallel: refuges closed, snowy trails, reduced domestic flights.
