Your Personal Equipment
For your trip, equip yourself with a large backpack and a smaller day pack of 30 to 40 liters for your trekking days. For nights spent in mountain refuges, pack a lightweight sleeping bag with a comfort temperature rating of 10°C.
Your Trekking Kit:
- Hiking boots with ankle support, properly fitted to your feet
- Hiking socks
- Thermal or fleece leggings
- Quick-dry hiking pants
- Technical t-shirts
- One or two fleece jackets
- A Gore-Tex jacket or equivalent—waterproof and breathable
- A beanie and a hat
- A pair of lightweight gloves
- Compact toiletries
- A pair of lighter shoes
Essential Items:
- A sleeping bag with a comfort temperature of 10°C for refuge nights, 5°C for tent camping
- Sunglasses
- A water bottle (1 to 2 liters)
- A headlamp with spare batteries
- Sunscreen
When flying, try to keep your waterproof jacket and hiking boots in your carry-on rather than checked baggage. Luggage delays do happen, and these items are quite expensive to replace on site—it's best to avoid having to purchase them again.
